• detects phantom power on mic cables 
• detects DMX pulses in 3 pin lighting run

3 pin XLR contains two leds to check presence of phantom power in an audio run, and DMX pulses where it has been run in a  3 pin configuration. 

Red led indicates pin 2 good. Orange led indicates pin 3 good. No leds indicates:  a). No continuity on pin 1, b). General failure at source, c). Wrong cable.
